Curriculum

JOYKIDS nursery school follows a child-centered curriculum, encouraging curiosity reflecting and questioning with and emphasis on sharing knowledge rather than competition.

The Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement(CAPS curriculum),is the National Curriculum Framework used in South Africa from Grade R to Grade 12. It provides detailed guidelines for both teaching and assessment in all approved subjects. CAPS replaced the other subject and learning area statements, learning programme guidelines and subject assessment guidelines.

    CAPS is part is part of the national curriculum statement Grades R-12. It replaced older curriculum frameworks like the national curriculum statement and OBE (Outcome-Based Education).

      The National Curriculum Framework (NCF)

    Provides guidence for those developing programmes and working with todlers and young children from birth age to age four(4). Monitoring personnel (Governemnet and Civil society) who visit the ECD programmes.

    The Grow Curriculum

    The Grow Curriculum for preschool is a digital, play-based curriculum designed for early childhood development (ECD) centers in South Africa. It's accessible through the grow ECD application and provides teachers with a structured, step-by-step guide for daily activities, aligned with the National Curriculum Framework(NCF). The curriculum emphasizes engaging, multimedia resources and aims to make learning fun and effective for 2-5 year olds.

  • DIGITAL AND ACCESSIBLE

    • The curriculum is available on the Grow App, allowing teachers to access it on their smartphones, even when offline.

  • PLAY-BASED LEARNING

    • It focuses on play-based learning with a wide range of of activities, including morning ring, storytime, art, outside play, numeracy, fantasy play, lego activities and extension ideas.

  • NCF-ALIGNED

    • The curriculum is aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) and includes 40 weekly themes and daily activities.

  • MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES

    • It uses videos, voice notes, photos, songs and rhymes to make the curriculum engaging and easy to understand for teachers.

  • STEP-BY-STEP GUIDANCE

    • The online daily teacher's guide provides clear, step-by-step, instructions for each activity, ensuring teachers know exactly what to do.

  • FOCUS ON GROWTH

    • The curriculum aims to equip ECD centers with the skills, support and resources they need to provide high-quality early learning experiences.

  • FREE ACCESS

    • The online curriculum is available for free to any preschool in South Africa.
